I’ve been doing awareness practices for 15 years and I’m still uncovering new and useful insights even with the very “basic” awareness practices.
Some years ago, I’ve spoken with an old Zen master doing the “basic” breathing meditation and he told that after a lifetime of practice he was still becoming aware new facets of his breath.
You can never have too much awareness.
I can honestly say this is a set of practices that will be with me for all my life.
It’s not by accident that most of the major mystical traditions of the world like yoga or qigong, rest their backbone on awareness.
Awareness of body, mind and energy is absolutely essential for all kinds of energy work, personal magnetism, and even overall health.
You can’t control what you don’t know it’s there.
If you have mold on the inside walls of your house and there are no external manifestations of it, you don’t know it’s there, yet, it can have hazardous consequences for your health if constantly breath that toxic mold.
But if you know it’s there, you can fix it.
It’s the same with your body.
Many diseases first manifest themselves on your energy and only then to your body. It’s A LOT easier to deal with them when they are on your energy body only, and A LOT harder when they are on your physical body.
But not everyone is aware of what’s happening in their energy body. It requires a specific kind of awareness.
Once you have it, you can then handle many different situations before they actually get manifested into your physical body. Avoiding a lot of pain and suffering.
Awareness is also the first step to mind over body.
It’s what allows for apparently amazing feats like for example knowing when you’re going to die. Most good energy workers and mystics understand this. Their vital energy starts to weaken. They know it will fail in the next coming months or years. So they make the necessary arrangements.
It may seem supernatural, but it’s simply a matter of being aware of your energy. No “magical powers” needed.
The downside of the awareness practice is that it takes time. It’s not something which you could take the most benefits of it after a week of training. It’s a technique that grows on you.
The more you put in, the more you take out.
The more awareness you have, the more you can explain and understand what’s happening inside (and outside) of you.
Don’t neglect this training. It’s the most important one that you could ever get.
