There’s an important concept that’s fundamental to both our lives and personal growth: radical honesty.
But this doesn’t mean sharing every thought or feeling with everyone around you. The key isn’t about oversharing.
Radical honesty is about being fully transparent and raw with yourself. We are often the easiest people to deceive — far easier to fool than anyone else. This happens especially with the rationalizations our minds create.
We tell ourselves stories and justify our actions, rarely noticing the real reasons behind our behavior.
These stories become scapegoats for our actions.
For example: “I need a drink because it was a hard day at work.” Or: “I deserve a drink to celebrate my promotion.” In both cases, we’re ignoring the underlying issue, like a possible addiction to alcohol or the emotional energy driving our consumption.
These justifications and stories, and our avoidance of radical self-honesty, can hold us back more than anything external. They shape our reality and become our truth, even though they’re just stories we’ve invented.
Of course, this doesn’t apply only to addictions. It’s about everything — the stories we tell ourselves about our work, our relationships, our anxieties, and more.
What’s more important than the stories we create in our minds is the energy behind them. The only way to truly embrace radical honesty is by connecting mind and body through this energy. It’s about becoming aware of what you’re actually feeling inside, and from there, truly knowing yourself — not through the stories you’ve created, but through your genuine, unfiltered energy.
