We often think that using our Will is the most important thing. And yes, there’s a huge importance on the Will – as I’ve consistently written throughout the years – but it’s not the only important aspect.
The Will is the engine, the force that moves you forward. Using it is an active part of yourself – the part that decides, pushes, and insists.
Yet you are more than just the movement you create. You also need to know what to aim for, where to place your energy, and how to use it without wasting strength.
That kind of clarity does not come from Will alone… It comes from a quieter, more receptive state.
The receptive state is as important as the Will. It’s the listening part of you, the part that feels before it acts, that notices before it chooses.
Without it, you may still move, but you’ll be moving blindly – like a headless chicken, all motion, no direction.
Think of an archer: the Will is the act of drawing the bow and releasing the arrow – full of intention, direction, and power.
But before that, there is the quiet moment where the archer stands still, feels the wind on their cheek, gauges the distance, and aligns their body. That silent assessment is the receptive state. Without it, the arrow may still fly, but it is unlikely to reach the target.
During our training most of the energy awareness exercises exist to train exactly that: your ability to listen inwardly, to know what’s happening beneath the surface, to sense the right timing. Without this skill, you may spend your Will on actions that drain you without bringing you closer to your goal.
Life moves in rhythms.
There is a time to be active and a time to be still, a time to act and a time to receive, a time to speak and a time to listen.
The magnetic person knows how to honor both: Will without receptivity becomes reckless; receptivity without Will becomes stagnant… True mastery is in joining the two.
