We often hear the word “trauma.” I use it frequently in this newsletter to explain potential causes of energy contractions. In fact, we can even say that energy contractions and blocks always originate from some form of trauma.
However, the word “trauma” is often misunderstood, and people tend to define it in different ways.
Some might think of trauma as only major events like an accident or a crime, or perhaps when someone mistreated you aggressively. And yes, these are valid examples — there’s no doubt that such events would be traumatic for almost anyone.
But what exactly is trauma? More importantly, how am I using the term, and how can we define it energetically?
Trauma can be understood as an energetic response to an event (or series of events) that we perceive as disturbing or life-threatening — so much so that we resist processing it internally. Instead, we defend ourselves against it.
The key word here is “perceived.” Just because you didn’t experience a life-threatening event doesn’t mean you haven’t had traumatic responses.
A trauma could be something as simple as a girl you liked in fifth grade calling you ugly. In that moment, a series of energetic responses were triggered, and you unconsciously put up defense mechanisms (blocks) to cope with the intensity of those internal energies.
We can all agree that this kind of situation isn’t life-threatening and is even fairly normal. But it was still traumatic and likely left a mark on you.
I’ve worked with plenty of students who’ve had seemingly normal lives without any obvious life-threatening events, yet they’ve experienced extreme traumatic responses.
So, when we talk about trauma, we’re referring to a series of intense energetic reactions that we felt the need to defend ourselves against. Sometimes, those defense mechanisms get activated so strongly that the powerful energies become stuck inside us.
That’s where something like The Unblocking Process comes in. It helps release those trapped energies and allows them to flow freely again.
