You can only receive as you give

As we talked many times before, every interaction you have involves an exchange. This exchange is not just of words or ideas but of energy…. and like any exchange, what comes back to you is directly related to what you are bringing in.

Most people approach interactions, especially ones that matter to them, with their attention fixed on what they are going to get. For example, it can be as simple as to whether the other person will be warm or cold, attracted or indifferent, approving or dismissive.

So the focus is on the incoming signal… and while that is understandable, it tends to produce exactly the quality of interaction you are hoping to avoid, because an attention fixed on receiving has very little actual magnetism behind it.

For one simple reason: there is no one fully there to connect with. The other person can’t connect with someone that is hoping to receive something.

Genuine connection, real attraction, the kind of magnetism that lands and stays with people after you have left the room, they are things that arise when two people are actually contributing something real to each other.

And your side of that contribution depends entirely on the quality of what you are bringing in, which is your energy and magnetism.

This is where the reciprocal nature of energetic exchange becomes practical. Someone who has done real internal work, who has cleared enough of his blocks that his energy moves freely outward, who is operating from genuine inner fullness rather than deficit, changes the quality of the exchange from the moment he arrives. He is not waiting to see what he gets, instead, he is already giving something simply by being present with real energy behind it.

And that tends to draw something real back.

You also need to consider that the reverse is equally true… When you enter an interaction contracted, defended, or focused primarily on what you need from it, the other person has less to respond to, so the exchange becomes thin.

What comes back reflects what was put in, and what was put in was essentially an absence dressed up as presence.

Charles Haanel has written it directly: we can only receive as we give. We may think this is some kind of a simple moral principle that your grandmother may tell you over a warm soup but instead, it is a description of how energetic exchange actually works: the depth of connection available to you in any interaction is largely determined by the depth of what you are genuinely capable of bringing to it.

This is why the inner work we focus so heavily on, is a direct preparation for all interactions. You cannot draw out what you have not first developed in yourself. And what you have developed, you bring with you everywhere, into every room, every interaction, every exchange.

If you want to start building that inner depth from the ground up, the 10 Steps to Inner Power is where that work begins. It develops the foundation for genuine magnetism that makes real energetic exchange possible.
