Your impulses are not you

We all experience countless impulses throughout our day — likely hundreds, if not thousands. These range from simple urges, like the need to eat or drink, to more complex ones, such as emotional reactions like anger or doing something we might later regret.

Often, we believe that we ARE these impulses, that they define us. And while it’s true that impulses are a part of us, they’re not the whole picture.

No one can go through life without impulses. In fact, our survival depends on them. How else would we know when we need sustenance? How would we sense danger or know when to protect ourselves? Our bodies require impulses to perform essential functions like eating, sleeping, and drinking.

But alongside the impulses we accept as necessary, we all have others we’d rather not acknowledge. These might be urges we perceive as weaknesses, like laziness, sadness, or even the desire to cry. They could also include darker, more uncomfortable impulses — things we’d never act on and struggle to admit exist.

Here lies the crux of the problem: everything is within us — the things we embrace and the things we reject. These impulses exist whether we want them to or not. Inside us is the sum of what we are and what we aren’t.

So, how do we handle this? The answer lies in awareness. Recognize your impulses, every part of yourself — even the parts you want to reject. The key is to allow this internal energy to flow freely.

As we discussed in the last post, your magnetism is only as strong as your weakest link. And that weakest link is precisely what you resist and reject — it’s the source of energy blockages and contractions. These blockages restrict your magnetism and the full projection of your energy.

It may seem paradoxical, but to truly bloom and flourish in the world with your magnetism, you must first accept all the energy within you — even the parts you’d rather ignore.

I encourage you to embark on your own journey of internal exploration. Examine your impulses, your internal energies, and your magnetism. The transformation begins within.
