Feeling is the secret

Here’s an interesting quote by Neville Goddard:

“The mechanism of creation is hidden in the very depth of the subconscious, the female aspect or womb of creation. The subconscious transcends reason and is independent of induction.

It contemplates a feeling as a fact existing within itself and on this assumption proceeds to give expression to it. The creative process begins with an idea and its cycle runs its course as a feeling and ends in a volition to act. Ideas are impressed on the subconscious through the medium of feeling. No idea can be impressed on the subconscious until it is felt, but once felt-be it good, bad or indifferent-it must be expressed.

Feeling is the one and only medium through which ideas are conveyed to the subconscious.

Therefore, the man who does not control his feeling may easily impress the subconscious with undesirable states.

By control of feeling is not meant restraint or suppression of your feeling, but rather the disciplining of self to imagine and entertain only such feeling as contributes to your happiness. Control of your feeling is all important to a full and happy life. Never entertain an undesirable feeling nor think sympathetically about wrong in any shape or form. Do not dwell on the imperfection of yourself or others. To do so is to impress the subconscious with these limitations. What you do not want done unto you, do not feel that it is done unto you or another. This is the whole law of a full and happy life. Everything else is commentary.”

Thought as the source of all manifestation

In my last post, I talked about how our thoughts are the youngest force within us, and how older, ancient instincts and emotions kick in much faster than thoughts.

Now, you might wonder: why do New Thought authors, like Atkinson, keep saying that thought is the source of all manifestation?

Indeed, thought is the source of all manifestation, and everything must be subjected to it. It’s the source of all our intentions. Thanks to thought, we can establish different intentions.

For example: a lion can’t suddenly decide to become a vegetarian. Yet, we can decide to eat (or not eat) whatever we want.

This is definitely due to our thought and rational ability, allowing us to have a will and intention.

So why do we focus so much on energy, emotions, and feelings? Shouldn’t all this be channeled to working with thought alone like the New Thought authors mention?

Well… it’s important to understand that when you read any New Thought author writing about thought, you need to consider that it’s related to it being 100% aligned with your feelings and energy.

Neville Goddard wrote it very well and explicitly when he said: “Feeling is the secret”… because in fact, it is.

For you to use your thought this way, it needs to be aligned with feeling and energy. Only when everything is aligned can you have a great source of power in your hands.

That’s what we work on in all our courses. Not just in “thinking” your way to magnetism, but in “aligning” your way to magnetism – integrating thought, emotions, and feelings through energy.

Thought is our youngest force

Thought is our youngest force.

Feelings, emotions, pain, and pleasure operate much more swiftly within us than thought and intellect. The intellect takes its time to grasp things compared to our emotions. The initial response is always to feel something; only then do thoughts, considerations, and rationalizations follow.

This is evident, especially in attraction. Initially, you feel drawn to someone, and only afterward do you start to rationalize the attraction. The reasons surface only after your body has already given its approval. Without this initial emotional response, any subsequent rationalization may backfire.

Even the structure of the brain reflects this hierarchy.

The brainstem, responsible for instincts, sits at the core, followed by the limbic system, which governs emotions, and finally, the neocortex, responsible for rational thought.

We perceive intellect and thought as evolutionary developments that came later, superseding instincts and emotions.

This is undoubtedly a good thing; our capacity for thought and rationalization is indispensable. Don’t ever be under the impression that I’m despising thought and the rational mind. That’s not at all the purpose of this text.

It’s not about despising our rational mind.

The issue lies in our current tendency to prioritize thoughts and rationality while disregarding everything else we feel inside.

The emphasis should be on integrating thought with these much older internal forces—instincts, emotions, and feelings—all of which reside within the domain of the unconscious mind.

Since energy is how those forces speak to us, we use energy to “speak” that language. Through this, we understand these ancient, primal forces that significantly influence our behavior, decisions, and even our sense of purpose in life.
